Is Switching To A Low-Carb/High-Fat Diet Right For You?

What’s the deal with all the low-carb/high-fat info Chea?

I get this question a TON lately, so I figure, now is as good a time as any to lay it all out for you guys.

Most of you know that I have struggled for decades with my weight. I have tried it all (Jenny Craig, Nutritsystem, Weight watchers, calorie restriction, low carb/low fat, portion control, cleanses. If it’s out there, I have probably given it a whirl.

As scientists and veterinarians, my husband, Jeff, and I love to investigate and research new things or solutions to a problem.

About a year ago, I read the Whole 30 book after deciding that I had to find a new solution to the constant weight yo-yo and my depression and fatigue. The information I learned about food and nutrition and their role in our gut health, metabolism and hormones was fascinating and  I gave the Whole 30 program a go. It worked great and I felt fantastic.  But, for me, it wasn’t sustainable. I felt restricted and I needed to not feel that way forever.

The search continued and my weight climbed back up.

I was frustrated and my doctors were prescribing more and more medications. I felt like I was losing the battle and a total failure. Until 6 months ago…

This past spring I was introduced through an ebook (written by a colleague) and I was asked to be a beta tester for a new online course focused on finding the right diet for your body. Through those 2 programs,  I was introduced to the concepts of nutritional ketosis, intermittent fasting and diet phasing. I thought, literally, What the heck, right? I’ve tried everything else!

It was like my body literally said “Thank you”. Within 2 weeks my digestive upset, bloating and exhaustion was gone. My weight literally started falling off of me and I had more mental clarity and energy than I had in years. The best part was that I no longer felt stuck. I didn’t feel like a failure or that my body was betraying me.

Fast forward 6 months and I have now read 5 more books on related subjects, listened to over 150 hours of podcasts and webinars and I am still learning!

I am fascinated by what I’m learning and I can’t help but spill it out to everyone I see! (note to yourself, if you don’t want to know how and why I am literally shrinking and reversing the aging process, don’t ask me! lol.)

Did you know that burning your own fat for your body’s fuel instead of sugar (what most people burn since most of the foods the average american consumes eventually breaks down to sugar (in the form of glucose) can:

  • Help prevent, treat or even reverse diabetes?
  • Prevent Cancer?
  • Improve your sleep?
  • Prevent Alzheimers?
  • Slow the aging process?
  • Reduce your risk of heart disease?
  • Reduce anxiety and depression?

You see, the weight loss is just an added benefit. What you can do for your health and your future . . That is the real benefit here.

What I’ve learned is that everybody’s body is different, the way that you assimilate food and nutrition is going to be different than me or your friend and there’s not one plan for every person. Even if you weigh the same, your body won’t change in the same way that somebody else’s does. So, with that in mind, I now work with clients to individualize their plan and see what kind of changes we can make for them and their nutrition and how they feel.

To date, I’ve helped dozens of my clients in the last few months finally shed that same 10, 15, 20 pounds they have been working on FOREVER and they are telling me, they haven’t felt this good in memory! From one client:

“This is simply now my eating style. I have found it easy to follow and after am now 11 weeks in… 15 pounds lighter and feeling great”

What has changed for me personally?

I am now not only at my lowest weight in over 20 years, but I also feel healthy, balanced and what’s most important is that I do not feel deprived or like a failure! That, my friends, is a huge statement for me because I always feel deprived when I am working on my weight.

Have I got you a little bit curious?

Are you wondering if maybe this might be a good solution for you too? Well, the truth is, it just might be. Maybe you have a few questions you’d like to ask and I’d be more than happy to answer them. Send me a quick message and let’s chat about them. Currently, I have 2 ways you can find out if this might be a good fit for you.

Join my free group: “Step it up with 5 days of Crockpot recipes” that starts next week. All of the recipes will fit into my current way of eating. We are also going to challenge ourselves to reach as many steps a day as we can AND I’m going to give you my favorite 5 superfood tips that I’ve learned in the last 6 months. This group is so totally going to rock!!!
